PHYSICAL INGREDIENTS
BIOVEG
85% plant-based origin
85% plant-based origin
Derived from industrially produced corn or mycelium — an underground network of filaments — BioVeg redefines ecological standards by significantly reducing environmental impact. Every square meter produced cuts CO2 emissions by around 30% compared to traditional materials.
UPPEAL
44% plant-based origin
44% plant-based origin
The UNEP estimates that around 17% of global food production is wasted, with about 30,000 tons consisting of apple waste. Only a small portion of this is recycled and reused, such as apple peels and cores, which are used to create this long-lasting, versatile material.
VEGEA
55% plant-based origin
55% plant-based origin
About 10 million tons of “pomace” are discarded every year by the wine industry during wine production. Stalks, skins, and grape seeds are part of this pomace — the residue left after juice extraction — that can actually be recycled and transformed into this strong, flexible material.
DESSERTO
80% plant-based origin
80% plant-based origin
It takes about 200 liters of water to produce 1 kg of this material, compared to 1000 liters required for common bio-based materials. The leaves of the Opuntia ficus-indica cactus, grown without artificial irrigation or pesticides, are transformed into this vegan, breathable, and durable biomaterial.
ORGANIC COTTON
100% plant-based origin
100% plant-based origin
About 240,000 tons of organic cotton are grown each year following certified standards, without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. The fibers, harvested and processed with low-impact methods, become a breathable, durable fabric perfect for lining sneakers.
GO!ZERO
30% recycled origin
30% recycled origin
Thanks to Gommus’ “Go!Zero Reverse” technology, the vulcanization process can be reversed, recovering waste and turning it into new raw material similar to virgin rubber. The recovered residue can make up to 30% of new soles. Once processed, the new material is certified to ensure its verified origin.
RECYCLED MATERIALS
over 70% recycled origin
over 70% recycled origin
More than 460 million tons of plastic are produced every year, and only a small fraction is recycled. We use recycled polyamide, polyester, Lycra, and mesh for all components such as laces, labels, tape, and insoles. In some models, these materials also form part of the upper, combined with bio-based materials.
METAPHYSICAL INGREDIENTS
Our shoes are made of more than just physical materials. There are a few less visible ones
—woven into our journey, our story, and our identity
—that we felt were worth sharing.
Here are the metaphysical ingredients behind this shoe:
O’Curniciello
a traditional Italian amulet, especially popular in Naples—Giuliana’s hometown believed to ward off the malocchio (evil eye) and bring good luck.
Waaa
depends on who you ask—or when you ask. Throughout the creation of ID.EIGHT, it took on different meanings, from joy and exhilaration to confusion and frustration.
Friarielli
a beloved staple in Naples, they are a type of leafy green with a slightly bitter taste. If you haven’t had them yet —what are you doing with your life?
Regeneration
each shoebox contains a “seed bomb”—a small ball of clay and soil that’s packed with wildflower seeds and herbs ready to grow with a bit of love.
Pulcinella
a traditional character from Italian commedia dell’arte. It embodies duality—serious yet playful, refined yet dynamic.
Neon Lights
ever wondered what it felt like to live in Korea during the 90s? The answer is Neon Lights. A reflection of Dong’s roots—a nod to youth, rebellion, and the electric pulse of the city.
Kimchi
not just a side dish, but a living, breathing part of Korean heritage—endlessly complex, full of flavors that shift and evolve, with a little bit of heat to keep things interesting.
A swallow
the symbol of Samjinnal, one of Korea’s oldest festivals. It marks the return of swallows and inspired the ‘Samji’ shoe—symbolizing the quiet strength of changing seasons.
Taegeuk
a symbol deeply rooted in Dong’s heritage, it represents cosmic balance. It is a harmonious blend of two distinct souls a reflection of Dong and Giuliana’s vision.
A giant Korean Robot
a colossal figure of Korean pop culture, a 1970s-symbol of strength, resilience, and the kind of coolness that only the ‘70s could produce.
YOU
yes, you—these shoes are now part of your story. Where you go, what you do, the momentsyou live—they’ll carry it all. Make them last. Want to know how?
